Features of dyed wood veneers
There is no big difference in the hue of the dyed Japanese cedar and Hinoki cypress. Since the Hinoki original material color is whitish, the Hinoki is relatively easier to dye than the Japanese cedar. What's more, strangely, the fragrance of the dyed cedar and cypress tends to be stronger than the their veneers before it`s dyed.
Note ・The dye we use comes from a long-established manufacturer in Kyoto. Their dye is usually used for clothing, so there is no effect on the human body at all.
・Since there is a possibility that the dye may leach out, please do not put high temperature objects such as pots directly on it. Also, please avoid liquid spills on the surface. In case of accidental spills, please wipe immediately with a dry cloth or tissue. ・Please wipe with a dry cloth. Keep in mind that some dye may leach out while doing this.
・Since wood is a natural material, the color, texture and wood patterns on each veneer is different.
Q. Is it possible to custom-make a paste pattern?
It is possible. For complicated patterns please inquire. Complicated patterns tend to take longer as the process becomes more difficult.

Ichimatsu moyou (checkered)
Patterns in which two kinds of squares or rectangles of different colors are alternately arranged. It is said that in the middle of the Edo period, a Kabuki actor Sanogawa Ichimatsu used this pattern as a signature theme for his performance on stage . It quickly spread and became popular across Japan. In addition, the emblem of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic was designed with this checkered pattern as a motif.
Although this is a general pattern of fancy plywood, by using a variety of different widths or combined colors, it can be expressed in a variety of ways.
Pattern using only single color.

The durability of hinoki continues to increase for about 200 years, even after it is cut. After 200 years, hinoki gradually returns to its original durability which takes about 1000 years.
